富勒烯（Fullerene) 是單質(zhì)碳被發(fā)現(xiàn)的第三種同素異形體。任何由碳一種元素組成，以球狀，橢圓狀，或管狀結(jié)構(gòu)存在的物質(zhì)，都可以被叫做富勒烯，富勒烯指的是一類物質(zhì)。富勒烯與石墨結(jié)構(gòu)類似，但石墨的結(jié)構(gòu)中只有六元環(huán)，而富勒烯中可能存在五元環(huán)。1985年Robert Curl等人制備出了C60。1989年，德國(guó)科學(xué)家Huffman和Kraetschmer的實(shí)驗(yàn)證實(shí)了C60的籠型結(jié)構(gòu)，從此物理學(xué)家所發(fā)現(xiàn)的富勒烯被科學(xué)界推向一個(gè)嶄新的研究階段。富勒烯的結(jié)構(gòu)和建筑師Fuller的代表作相似，所以稱為富勒烯。
初步研究表明，富勒烯類化合物在抗HIV、酶活性抑制、切割DNA、光動(dòng)力學(xué)治療等方面有*的功效。
