ASTRON轉(zhuǎn)換器（converter）是指將一種信號轉(zhuǎn)換成另一種信號的裝置。信號是信息存在的形式或載體。在自動化儀表設(shè)備和自動控制系統(tǒng)中，常將一種信號轉(zhuǎn)換成另一種與標(biāo)準(zhǔn)量或參考量比較后的信號，以便將兩類儀表聯(lián)接起來，因此，轉(zhuǎn)換器常常是兩個儀表（或裝置）間的中間環(huán)節(jié)。

各種類型的轉(zhuǎn)換器的出現(xiàn)，大大擴(kuò)大了各類儀表（裝置）的使用范圍，使自動控制系統(tǒng)具有更多的靈活性和更廣的適應(yīng)性。各類轉(zhuǎn)換器的基本作用是將信息轉(zhuǎn)換成便于傳輸和處理的形式，要求轉(zhuǎn)換過程中信息不發(fā)生畸變、失真、延遲等，因此對轉(zhuǎn)換器的線性度、輸入輸出阻抗匹配和隔離等有一定要求：①線性特性。要求轉(zhuǎn)換器的輸出信號Y與輸入信號X之間具有良好的比例關(guān)系，即Y=KX+A，式中K、A為常數(shù)。②輸入阻抗和輸出阻抗。轉(zhuǎn)換器輸入阻抗和輸出阻抗必須與輸入端儀表和輸出端儀表相匹配，才能獲得高的轉(zhuǎn)換精度。③隔離特性。輸入電路、輸出電路與電源電路在直流電位上應(yīng)彼此隔離，輸入、輸出電路 F的接地點(diǎn)應(yīng)分開，以提高抗干擾能力。
