螯肢如鉗狀，*有小齒，適於嚙食宿主皮膚的角質(zhì)層組織。須肢分三節(jié)。無眼和氣門。軀體背面有橫形的波狀橫紋和成列的鱗片狀皮棘，軀體后半部有幾對桿狀剛毛和長鬃。腹面光滑，僅有少數(shù)剛毛和4對足。足短粗，分5節(jié)，呈圓錐形。前兩對足與后兩對足之間的距離較大，足的基部有角質(zhì)內(nèi)突。雌雄螨前2對足的末端均有具長柄的爪墊，稱吸墊（ambulacra），為感覺靈敏部份；后2對足的末端雌雄不同，雌蟲均為長剛毛，而雄蟲的第4對足末端具吸墊。雌螨的產(chǎn)卵孔位于后2對足之前的中央，呈橫裂縫狀。雄螨的外生殖器位于第4對足之間略后處。兩者的肛門都位于軀體后緣正中。寄生在人體的螨蟲主要分為兩種，一種是毛螨，也叫人蠕形螨，另一種叫皮脂腺螨，寄生在人面部的皮脂腺中，一般的也就簡稱為螨蟲。螨蟲通常分為塵螨、粉螨、革螨、恙螨等幾大類，是一種肉眼不易看見的微型害蟲，螨蟲廣泛分布于居室的暗角落、地毯、床墊、枕頭、沙發(fā)、空調(diào)、涼席等處，其中塵螨的分布zui廣、影響zui大，螨蟲的尸體、分泌物和排泄物都是過敏源，會使人出現(xiàn)過敏性皮炎、哮喘病、支氣管炎、腎炎、過敏性鼻炎等疾病，嚴(yán)重危害人體健康。螨蟲是一種肉眼不易看見的微型害蟲，種類很多。至今前發(fā)現(xiàn)在居室內(nèi)生活的螨蟲有40余種，其中與人體健康有關(guān)的有十多種。
